Eterno Property Group is set to unveil a major new public artwork by internationally recognised Australian artist Stephen Ormandy at its luxury ODE Double Bay project, marking the first time one of Ormandy’s signature sculptural works has been installed as a permanent feature in Australia.
The unveiling, set to coincide with the completion of the iconic new building, reinforces ODE Double Bay’s defining principles as a benchmark for design-led luxury living, bringing together architecture, art and craftsmanship in one of Sydney’s most sought-after village precincts.
Created specifically for ODE Double Bay, Ormandy’s sculptural installation forms a defining element of the development’s arrival experience, introducing movement, sophistication and artistic expression from the moment residents and guests enter the property.
Eterno Property Group Marketing Director, Katie Rea said the artwork reflects the vision behind ODE Double Bay: to create a residential development that transcends traditional apartment living through considered design, exceptional materials and curated experiences.
“ODE Double Bay was conceived as more than a collection of residences; it is a celebration of architecture, art and lifestyle. Stephen Ormandy’s work brings another layer of distinction to the project, creating a lasting artistic legacy within one of Sydney’s most prestigious neighbourhoods,” Ms Rea said.
Designed by renowned Italian-Australian architect Luigi Rosselli, and interiors by Atelier Alwill, ODE Double Bay combines timeless architectural principles with contemporary luxury. The project showcases refined detailing, natural materials, and a strong indoor-outdoor connection that reflects Double Bay’s character and elegance.
The ultra-luxe residential development comprises 17 private apartments, each designed with space, privacy, and elevated amenity in mind. Residences feature bespoke interiors, premium finishes and carefully considered layouts designed for sophisticated modern living.
Set to complete in November, ODE Double Bay represents one of the area’s most anticipated residential offerings, with its location providing residents with immediate access to Double Bay’s celebrated dining, retail, harbour lifestyle and village amenities.
The Stephen Ormandy sculpture joins a suite of carefully curated design elements throughout ODE Double Bay, highlighting Eterno Property Group’s commitment to delivering residences where art and architecture complement each other in a considered design expression.
Stephen Ormandy’s latest exhibition, ‘Listening’, can be viewed at The Olsen Galleries on Jersey Road and the Olsen Annexe gallery on Queen Street, Woollahra, combining the artist’s love of sculpture and painting with his passion for music to set the scene and create a truly immersive experience.
“Stephen Ormandy is one of Olsen Gallery’s most treasured artists. His transition from designer to serious artist is a rare achievement. Stephen’s works are like totems of his emotions, and this exhibition strikes chords that clash, chime, and resonate like musical notes. The addition of sound to the exhibition allows the viewer to immerse themselves totally in the works and in the intimate emotions that are on display”. Olsen Gallery Director, Tim Olsen says.

About the artwork
Stephen Ormandy’s public sculpture practice is built on an alphabet of shapes that lets him develop unique forms from common components. These components take physical form as building blocks the artist uses to sketch, build, and document new designs. The process is somewhat like a 3D collage, facilitating simple, iterative exploration in response to the brief, site context and curatorial vision. The resulting works form a series, a family of objects that, despite their physical separation, are undeniably linked.
Ormandy has assembled these blocks to create a work for Ode, Double Bay. By exploring numerous arrangements in response to the architecture, the artist sought a response that felt both in tune with the building’s identity and representative of the community that would enjoy the communal spaces.
The result is an iconic form that calls to and responds to Ode’s architecture and its Alphabet family around the globe. The work aims to create a landmark artwork for Double Bay and a beacon for the local community.
About the artist, Stephen Ormandy
Australian artist and designer Stephen Ormandy is known for a strong design aesthetic based on colour, line, and form. Years of design experience helped him develop a strong understanding of how solid colour and soft organic shapes can bounce off each other, creating enduring vibrancy. His exploration of Chroma relationships continues between his sculptural forms and his paintings, with a dialogue between surfaces, shapes and finishes. Ormandy’s work exemplifies
constant play and a joie de vivre.
“The sculptures are created from an alphabet of shapes individually born from the cube… I’m looking for rhythms in the interplay of positive and negative spaces,” Stephen Ormandy said.
